Annual Grand Encampment History Symposium – Filming the West

August 16, 2024 - August 17, 2024

The theme is Filming the West featuring experts, authors, historians, film makers exploring the traditions and issues of the west.

This year’s history Symposium may be the best one yet! Titled Filming the West, it will feature Candy Moulton and her film Battle of Red Buttes, Steve Peck and Wyoming Chronicle, Jordan Dresser and Sophie Barksdale with Who She Is, and Alan O’Hashi presenting The Arapaho Covered Wagon. Also, there will be a special viewing of the local 1970s production Treasure of the Hidden Valley! You don’t want to miss this fascinating event on August 16&17.

Schedule of Events

Friday, August 16 at 6:00– Viewing of Treasure of the Hidden Valley, followed by Candy Moulton presenting The Battle of Red Buttes.

Saturday, August 17:

10:00am– Steve Peck presents Wyoming PBS’ Wyoming Chronicle

1:00pm– Jordan Dresser and Sophie Barksdale present their film, Who She Is, a film about the missing and murdered women on American Indian Reservations.

3:00pm– Alan O’Hashi presents Arapaho Covered Wagon Redux with the soundtrack by Northern Arapaho Eagle Society.
