Audio Tour:
The Blacksmith was an integral member to early mining towns. A smith was a talented craftsman who repaired or forged new horseshoes, wagon wheels, and other metal objects. This cabin includes a variety of blacksmithing tools, bellows, and a forge. It was used to work metal into all sorts of items for early mining needs, as well as shoes for horses. Blacksmiths also repaired and shrank wagon wheels and made many household items. Most of their shops were large enough to fit a wagon or buggy.
